OpenCamp Dallas is the first two day conference held in Dallas, Texas where bloggers, web designers and developers, podcasters and social media specialists come together from all over to learn the daily techniques to improve on their content and online media power. Some of the people that founded put this event: John Pozadides, Cali Lewis, Jennifer Conley, Mark Ramsey as well as other members and volunteers really did a great job in putting this event together. I got to learn more through the presented workshops and I networked with other professionals in their respective fields and learned from them as well.
University of Colorado’s Boulder Digital Works offers an intense program into digital media

I’ve researched several universities that teach digital media at both undergraduate and graduate level but this particular academic program is a bit different. It’s called Boulder Digital Works and it’s an intense 60 week certification program created by the University of Colorado to prepare students and professionals for career fields in digital media. More workshops then classes, Boulder Digital Works includes small lectures, group discussions and projects lead by industry innovators who have proven to be successful in the field and know that digital technology is always changing and adapting to meet our needs. Some workshops include social media, mobile technology, Web 2.0 technology and campaign planning in digital media.
The good news is that you don’t have to apply to the University of Colorado to get into the program but financial aid is provided. So if you’re looking to learn about digital media and rather not spend time getting a degree in it, this could be for you plus a nice change of scenery couldn’t hurt either.

Mike Newhouse:Creating Search Engine Friendly Content Using Text and Video
I recently had a chance to be at a local Dallas meetup on Interactive Marketing & Internet SEO and SEM which turned out to be very informational and useful for my practice into SEO content writing. I like to thank Charles McKeever, co-owner of Open Source Marketer and Steve Kuntz, owner of Poker Home Supplies, for organizing the event.
Mike Newhouse, who presented at the meetup, states that content and SEO go hand in hand and in order to start writing for SEO purposes, we must first put ourselves in the shoes of someone looking for us. Mike listed three questions that we have to think about before we start writing SEO worthy content and searching keywords with the Google Keyword Selector Tool: Read the rest of this entry »

Computer technology has provided us another medium to express visual artistry at a whole new level of interactivity and immersion. Once, the most common computer programs allowed us to develop video games, websites and online applications but a new wave of artists have found a way to create art out of these technical codes and pixels. These “new media” or “digital” artists are computer programmers, poets, photographers, visual artists and designers who took it upon themselves to go the next level and explore the possibilities of what the new media can provide in improving the viewer’s interaction with their art. Will our interaction with the virtual world evolve to be like Tron?
I don’t know about you but I’m totally psyched about watching the new Tron Legacy movie coming out soon, I may even watch it on 3D. It’s pretty amazing that the original was created about twenty years ago with today’s concept of how far humans and computers can interact with each other in an online world. The question I ask myself, will we be able to create technology to actually transfer our minds to the online world to the point that we are self aware of our virtual surroundings as if it is the real world?
